Do I need a license to offer my services on PetBacker? Open

5

At PetBacker, pet welfare and safety is our number-one priority.

We expect no less than the highest standards of professional and responsible practice amongst our pet sitting community, including complying with any laws and regulations pertaining to pet sitting and all related services on PetBacker.

As of October 1st 2018, The Animal Activities Licensing Regulations 2018, comes into effect in England. This new regulation applies to home dog boarding and doggy daycare services. The regulation is intended to improve the quality of doggy daycare and home dog boarding and to standardise the licensing process.

The Animal Activities Licensing Regulations have not yet been brought into effect in Scotland and Wales. In Scotland and Wales dog boarding and daycare is governed by the Animal Boarding Establishment Act 1963.

There are no licensing requirements for house sitting, dog walking and home visits. However, dog walkers should be aware of off-lead times in local parks as well as on-lead and off-lead areas in general.

Please note that each pet sitter is personally responsible for complying with local regulations when offering their services on PetBacker.
